Makita BTD144
I dearly loved my old Makita impact driver and never thought I'd have any reason to replace it before it died, but when I found out the latest and greatest model let you downshift into less power, I had no choice but to trade up. The first thing I did with it out of the box was sink a 3.5" deck screw into the end of a fir 2 x 4 (pre-drilled for about 2" with a tapered countersink bit) on the highest setting. This was not a task my old driver ever balked at, but with the 144 the screw was sunk almost instantaneously. If you blinked, you would have missed it. I tried another one on the medium ...
